Queensland Net evolved from the collision of several businesses with similar interests. The original developers of Colour Station and People Publishing People; began working with Datamini and the IT Xperts. This new entity became Queensland Net. When Datamini folded, the directors of Queensland Net purchased the remaining shares from the other stakeholders and the company continued until today.
Having a very firm background in graphic design and a high interest in technology and desktop publishing in the eighties, the internet was the obvious direction for the evolution of the business.
The directors of Queensland Net, Glenda and Ian Wilks were basically there on the first day that Queensland content and information went live to the world in the form of travel content. Queensland Net was among the very first commercial development of this technology in Australia - see the Australian internet brief history segment. Their epic first ever Queensland travel web site - SunZine; an "ezine" for the Sunshine State, went live in April 1995 and is one of Australia's oldest internet archives. This site is currently in its sixth rebuild since inception; no commercial web site ever stays static!
Today Queensland Net is a very tight organisation with a brilliant group of clients, many have been with the company since those very early days. The evolution of the web and the company's vast hands-on experience really has no equivalent in the marketplace. It is fair to say that the success of Queensland Net is really shared by all of their clients without exception. This is down to the background of graphic design, fundamental understanding of how web technology works and just how the "fabric" is held together with the various elements that are required for a successful internet business.
